Our community
Our mission and our team
Why we are here
The vision of Wheel & Anchor is a community where travellers can connect to share stories and build friendships around their passion for travel. We believe the transformative experience of travel is accelerated and deepened in the company of friends, and that is why we create events that bring travellers together.
We are a community of travellers creating and pursuing unforgettable experiences. If you feel the same way, you are welcome to join us.
Wheel & Anchor was founded to fill the gaps between trips with stories, inspiration, and a sense of community; to bring travellers together for unforgettable experiences; and ultimately to build friendships around a shared passion for travel.
Meet the people
Curious travellers, thoughtful planners, and welcoming hosts.
Founder & Trip Host
Gordon is the founder of W&A and has travelled to 94 countries. He has lived in Canada, Europe, and Asia. Having been around the business for over 30 years and brought guests with him to all of the continents, Gord has a reputation for delivering unmatched hospitality because he believes that travel is the single most important factor in global understanding.
Director of Operations
Elsa is our trip creator extraordinaire and an eager traveller, with Vietnam and the Czech Republic among her favourite destinations. Elsa is based in Brazil and keeps tabs on our global trip operations from the heart of Rio.
Travel Specialist
Always on a quest for adventure, Paula loves learning about local culture, trying regional food, and meeting people wherever she travels. Having explored over 28 countries, when she is not travelling you can find her hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, surfing, or doing yoga. She enjoys sharing her knowledge, experience and passion to create your next holiday of a lifetime.
COO & Trip Host
Amber is one of our hosts and a successful entrepreneur who has travelled solo through parts of the world that are not for the faint of heart. As Wheel & Anchor's COO, Amber somehow finds time to also host trips all over the world. Ask her about how she changes her sleep schedule to be perfectly rested no matter where she's headed.
Trip Administrator
Aura was introduced to travel at a young age, her first big trip being to Japan and Thailand at the age of four. Travel has always been an important part of her life and upbringing, so she has naturally developed a love for culture and language, which has only fuelled her desire to see and learn more about the world. She spends her spare time planning and departing on trips to new countries.
The whole experience
Life-changing travel experiences start with anticipation, creating life-affirming anchors of movement, beauty, and self-discovery. Our ongoing events allow you to meet other passionate travellers, exchange stories and ideas, and share in the excitement of upcoming trips.
Before, during, and after, we seek enjoyment in the whole experience.
